Getting Here

By Plane

There are direct charter flights available from Toronto on Mondays via Huatulco (1.5hrs south - Airport Code: HUX) with Sunwing vacations. (see below for Bus info) Very often the last-minute fares can be as low as $400 return. For those within a short flight of Toronto, this is an excellent option. The flights run from late November until April - much like our schedule 🙂 Other airlines serving Huatulco from various destinations include United Airlines, Aero Mexico, Interjet and Viva Aerobus. Interjet and Viva Aerobus flights can be had for as little as $200 return. Aeromar runs daily flights to Puerto Escondido from Mexico city - the cost is around $400 return. A better option is Viva Aerobus, that can have return flights to Mexico City as low as $100. Booking the flight to Mexico City and the internal flight separately will normally result in the cheapest fare.

By Bus

There are buses every hour or so during the day from the stop outside the Huatulco airport - and the rode is only about 1.5 hours - and will cost less than $8USD. Simply walk outside of the terminal and down to the highway (you can't miss it). There's a little tree to wait under. Wait for the bus marked Puerto Escondido and wave it down. The buses are super-comfortable.

By Taxi from Huatulco

A taxi can be had from Huatulco airport for around $70USD (650 pesos or so) but it will require a little bargaining, as they will ask for about double that at the beginning.

From Acapulco

The main bus station in Acapulco has a few buses daily to Puerto Escondido. Check with them for the latest rates. The ride is a long one though, at 8 hours.

From Oaxaca

To travel to Puerto Escondido it is recommended that you take a first class bus or the Oaxaca Pacifico “DIRECTO” (Direct) that depart starting at 9 am. (There are several Oaxaca Pacifico “Direct” departures.) ADO/Cristobal Colón is the recommended carrier. Expect 5-7 hours. Alternatively, you could fly with one of the small regional airlines: Aerovega or Aerotucan.
